Today was the AGM of the North Delta Rotary Foundation.  We had a great turnout and elected a new executive. 

In our August 27 meeting, Beulah and Kathy received “Way to Go” recognition awards and we had Helen Jones talk to us about the Navy League of Canada and the good things they do teaching kids leadership and survival skills.  

It was also a special day today (Aug 22) for Sean and Jola as they celebrated with friends in Canada  their recent wedding.  

We were out selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the local Sabzi Mandi shopping centre today (Aug 22), but the downpour forced us inside.  

In our August 20, 2026 meeting, President Ray Marshall facilitated a presentation and discussion about seniors' concerns about outliving their savings.  

Another awesome 50/50 draw sales day with an amazing team (Don Pateman was there but no photo) with over $1200 in sales and donations.  This week we were at SuperStore on Scott Road.  Last week at our home Scottsdale Save-On-Foods.  Next week (Aug 22) we'll be at Sabzi Mandi 12568 72 Ave.

In our meeting this week, President Ray Marshall interviewed John Shepherd and Susan Gage about their careers, their involvement with Rotary and their ambitions. A great way to learn more about our members. 

Super first real day of sales at Save-On-Foods Scottsdale.  We sold $940 of tickets and collected $168 in donations for a total of $1,108 for 4 hours work.  Well done Kathy, Sandy, Peter, Lana, Linda (not in photo) and Shawn.  Special thank you to Store Manager Brian Clark for donating a prize basket, $50 gift card, chocolate bars and a wheel to spin to win.   Current Raffle Jackpot $1,790.

Busy day with a donation to children's hospital on behalf of Save-On-Foods and Way to Go awards for Dorothy Marshall and Alan Seabrook.  Plus we kicked off our 2026 50/50 draw today.

In today's meeting we had Kim Savage (Executive Director of the Surrey Food Bank) and Debbie Callow (Program Manager) come to explain what they do and allow us to ponder options to replace Starfish. 

RCND members: Shawn, Tinku and Ray handed out flyers and candy at this year's North Delta Movie Night; hosted by MLA Ravi Kahlon at North Delta Senior Secondary track.  We made lots of contacts and saw old friends as well.

Members of many Rotary and Rotaract Clubs participated again in the Corn Hut at the Port Moody Ribfest.  It was extremely well organized, but we sure could have used more volunteers.  The rewards to the clubs and the groups we support are huge.

Four Rotarians: Shawn, Rob, Peter and Elgin, installed the latest book at the North Delta Community Park.  While recovering from the effort, we were joined by retired Delta Police Chief Jim Cessford. 

Girl Guides of Canada Delta representative Barb Aven received a ceremonial cheque for tents and camping supplies.  Outgoing Co-Presidents Neil and Lana were thanked for their year of service by President Ray Marshall. 

Shanti Ang, Literacy Outreach Coordinator for READ Surrey-White Rock, presented the great things their organization does to help adults improve their reading, writing, and math skills.  We had a full house with visiting past members Phil and Dot Toombs. 

Tonight capped off the last of the club's 12 Secondary School Bursary Presentations for the year.  Past President Jon Marks presented two awards to North Delta Secondary School students: Jaskirat Sachdev and Dalraj Sandler. 

Co-President Lana Hart and several other club members supported the Rotary Club of Ladner's “Barns to Beaches Festival” on Friday and Saturday.  It was a wonderful show of support for our fellow Delta Rotarians.

In today's meeting RYLA Facilitator Anshdeep Sharda thanked our club for our support of his roles at RYLA.  He also demonstrated the warm fuzzy exchanges that take place at RYLA, with the help of Shawn (spelled Sean for some reason) Hogan.  

At Starfish today, we had a new record of 20 volunteers (19 shown, plus the one taking the picture).  It's our second last week for the year.  Thank you to the members and especially the friends of Rotary who helped out. 

Members from the Rotary Club of North Delta helped cook burgers and hot dogs at the Annieville Elementary School spring barbecue.  Thank you to Shawn, Kathy, Sean, Bonnie, Neil and Don for making this a successful community service project. 

In today's meeting, we had Tanya Randhawa, who recently returned from Ottawa on the Rotary sponsored Adventures in Citizenship.  She told us how much she learned and grew from the experience. 

At our regular Starfish pack, the Rotary Club of North Delta had 16 volunteers.  It was a combination of Rotarians and Friends of Rotary including two members of a local Girl Scout group.

Linda Pasacreta from the Richmond Garden Club provided great insight on the Richmond Paulik Community Garden and other gardens maintained by their club.  It was enlightening and entertaining.  

A busy meeting with short presentations on other club projects by Mike Story of Ladner and Sarb Walia of Surrey Newton, followed by the main presentation by Kate Bentham of Nightshift. 

On Saturday May 16, North Delta Rotary teamed up with Cougar Creek Streamkeepers and Interact students to prepare and begin planting hardy native species in the rain garden phase of the Huff Greenway Environmental Education Project.  It was an Epic Day of Service event.  Thank you to Deborah Jones for organizing this amazing event. 

In our regular meeting, Club Secretary Teresa Marshall presented member Rob Bougie with a Paul Harris Award (Congratulations Rob!).  She also led a training session on our new version of ClubRunner (Nova).  And as a special treat, SAA Peter McCaskill presented a young guest with a Rotary Tax donation.
