Kathy, Sandy, Ruth, Susan, Dorothy and Jon lent their hands to distribute food at the Food Bank on Wednesday at the Delview Secondary School. This  “Pop-Up “ operates every 2nd Wednesday from 3:00 to. 5:00 pm. 

Since the school will be closed on November 11^th for Remembrance Day, the next Pop-Up at Delview will take place on Tuesday, November 10. Volunteers are asked to assist from 2:45 to 5:15.

It was a bit chilly outside for the 50/50 draw sale at Newton Exchange Sabzi Mandi (unit 101, 13753-72 Ave), but with warm hospitality (tea and samosas from neighbours), we were taken care of.  Thank you to Raj, Amrit and our own Ruth, John and Shawn.  

Visit Oct 22 with DG Kathleen Olson who presented the club with recognition of our donation to support end polio and to award Kathy de Ste Croix with a Paul Harris Award.  Shawn, Susan and DG Olson also received a Way to Go from Club President Ray Marshall.  To see a video of DG Olson's speech, click the link. 

We were selling today (Oct 17) outside the Canadian Tire on Scott Rd.  We had a good day, $1,060 in ticket sales and $44 in donations. 

On Oct 15, our guest speaker was none other than our own Eliza Olson, presenting on her new children's book about peat bogs, “Children's Guide to Peatlands”. 

Rotarians Kathy De Ste. Croix, Ruth Moro, Susan Gage and Jon Marks (not in photo) worked at the inaugural Food Bank at Delview Secondary School on Wednesday, October 14^th. This Food Bank at Delview will be available to North Delta residents every other Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Just 2 brave souls fought off the obvious inclement weather outside the Real Canadian Superstore on Scott Road,  to sell 50/50 raffle tickets ($1,110 in ticket sales and $171.35 in cash donations).  Well done Jon and Shawn.

The Latest Book. “Leif and the Fall”, will be installed today (Sept 30) at North Delta Community Park . 

Last night (Sept 29), Neil and Ray hosted a fireside chat on a future without the Starfish Pack program.  A lot of soul searching and ideas were exchanged.  We had a good turnout of members and were joined with Deb and Anne (Starfish volunteers).

The Rotary Club of Surrey-Newton Oral Cancer Screening  event was held Sunday Sept 27.  It was a great opportunity to get a free cancer checkup and a nice massage of your face and head ;)   Thank you to Rotary and UBC Oral Cancer Prevention Program.  You can make a donation to the program at give.ubc.ca/ocpp

We had a great turnout with Rob and Ray who left before the photo op, leaving the 5 of us to manage the pleasant group.  We were able to bring in $430 in ticket sales and $70 in donations. 

We had a full house for our sold out meeting with Mayoral candidate Melissa Granum today, Sept 24.  I would love to share the entire presentation and Q&A session, but the microphone was inadvertently muted.  So here is a quiet 1:10 quick summary of Melissa's presentation. 

On Tuesday, Sept 22, 5 valiant souls embarked on a cleanup of Kittson Parkway.  We then recovered from our arduous work at the Night Owl Pub. 

Another amazing sales day.  Missing from the photo are Jon and Neil.  We sold $1,630 in ticket sales and received $107 in donations.

My (Shawn Gold) own experience was volunteering at the oral scanning clinic 2 years ago and the supervising dentist, working with the young dentists learning how to do this, noticed something on my eyebrow and suggested I get it checked.  After a review by my doctor, I was sent to a skin cancer clinic and they agreed it was a pre-cancer growth and immediately removed it.  That would not have happened without this clinic and I was just getting a scan because they had a quiet period.  Spread the word!!

Our biggest 50/50 Draw Sales day ever. Today (Sept 12) we sold $1,560 in tickets and collected $130.15 in donations.  We started off with 5 members selling and over the day had as many as 10 wanting to join in the excitement (Elgin slipped in and out before we could capture his image).  To watch the Magic Pencil Battle, click here. 

Received from District 5040 Rotary Foundation Chair Ian Grant “We are pleased to inform you that The Rotary Foundation has recently received a gift from Bonnie Sutherland of the Rotary Club of North Delta, BC, Canada, in neighboring District 5050 to establish The Bonnie Sutherland Global Grant Scholarship. This Directed Gift provides US$28,500 to District 5040 and/or Rotary clubs in the district to help underwrite an eligible Global Grant Scholarship.”  Bonnie is an active member and generous donor of the RCND as the Director for International Projects.  Thank you Bonnie for your contribution and service. 

Today's (Sept 10, 2026) guest speaker was actually a YouTube video of Chad Wiebe of Pathway Wealth, talking about how overly worried we might be, about our financial situations, as we reach retirement age.  

The new book (The Sharing Circle) was installed on Tuesday Sept 6.  You can enjoy nature and read it at the North Delta Community Park (11311 84 Ave, Delta)

Another super sales day (Sept 5) at Save-On-Foods Scottsdale Mall with Lana, Elgin, Shawn and Tinku (Beulah and Alan (not pictured)).  Next week we will be back at Superstore and the week after at Save-On-Foods Nordel Crossing. 

In our September 3rd meeting, Sean Hogan introduced a young lawyer from Italy who is part of the New Generations Service Exchange (NGSE).  Exchange student Sofia Sfulcini shared a club banner with President Ray Marshall. 

Today was the AGM of the North Delta Rotary Foundation.  We had a great turnout and elected a new executive. 

In our August 27 meeting, Beulah and Kathy received “Way to Go” recognition awards and we had Helen Jones talk to us about the Navy League of Canada and the good things they do teaching kids leadership and survival skills.  

It was also a special day today (Aug 22) for Sean and Jola as they celebrated with friends in Canada  their recent wedding.  

We were out selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the local Sabzi Mandi shopping centre today (Aug 22), but the downpour forced us inside.  

Another awesome 50/50 draw sales day with an amazing team (Don Pateman was there but no photo) with over $1200 in sales and donations.  This week we were at SuperStore on Scott Road.  Last week at our home Scottsdale Save-On-Foods.  Next week (Aug 22) we'll be at Sabzi Mandi 12568 72 Ave.

In our meeting this week, President Ray Marshall interviewed John Shepherd and Susan Gage about their careers, their involvement with Rotary and their ambitions. A great way to learn more about our members. 

Super first real day of sales at Save-On-Foods Scottsdale.  We sold $940 of tickets and collected $168 in donations for a total of $1,108 for 4 hours work.  Well done Kathy, Sandy, Peter, Lana, Linda (not in photo) and Shawn.  Special thank you to Store Manager Brian Clark for donating a prize basket, $50 gift card, chocolate bars and a wheel to spin to win.   Current Raffle Jackpot $1,790. 

In today's meeting we had Kim Savage (Executive Director of the Surrey Food Bank) and Debbie Callow (Program Manager) come to explain what they do and allow us to ponder options to replace Starfish. 

RCND members: Shawn, Tinku and Ray handed out flyers and candy at this year's North Delta Movie Night; hosted by MLA Ravi Kahlon at North Delta Senior Secondary track.  We made lots of contacts and saw old friends as well.

Members of many Rotary and Rotaract Clubs participated again in the Corn Hut at the Port Moody Ribfest.  It was extremely well organized, but we sure could have used more volunteers.  The rewards to the clubs and the groups we support are huge.

Shanti Ang, Literacy Outreach Coordinator for READ Surrey-White Rock, presented the great things their organization does to help adults improve their reading, writing, and math skills.  We had a full house with visiting past members Phil and Dot Toombs. 

Tonight capped off the last of the club's 12 Secondary School Bursary Presentations for the year.  Past President Jon Marks presented two awards to North Delta Secondary School students: Jaskirat Sachdev and Dalraj Sandler. 

At Starfish today, we had a new record of 20 volunteers (19 shown, plus the one taking the picture).  It's our second last week for the year.  Thank you to the members and especially the friends of Rotary who helped out. 

In today's meeting, we had Tanya Randhawa, who recently returned from Ottawa on the Rotary sponsored Adventures in Citizenship.  She told us how much she learned and grew from the experience. 

A busy meeting with short presentations on other club projects by Mike Story of Ladner and Sarb Walia of Surrey Newton, followed by the main presentation by Kate Bentham of Nightshift. 

On Saturday May 16, North Delta Rotary teamed up with Cougar Creek Streamkeepers and Interact students to prepare and begin planting hardy native species in the rain garden phase of the Huff Greenway Environmental Education Project.  It was an Epic Day of Service event.  Thank you to Deborah Jones for organizing this amazing event.
